The Tignanello of the Antinori winery, the progenitor of the successful Super Tuscan family, is produced with Sangiovese (80%), Cabernet Sauvignon (15%) and Cabernet Franc (5%) grapes. The wine takes its name from the 47 hectare estate of the same name, located at an altitude between 350 and 400 m above sea level, characterized by a soil of limestone origin with elements of tuff and a perfect south-west exposure. The grapes are macerated separately at a temperature between 27ºC and 31ºC, aged in barriques for 12 months - where they are subjected to malolactic fermentation - and are then assembled and aged in the bottle for another year. The result is a wine with a complex aromatic bouquet whose notes of ripe red fruit and spices are embellished with vanilla ones and toasted hints. The tannic balance and the persistence of the aroma on the palate complete the picture of this masterpiece from the Antinori winery which gives its best several years after bottling.
